My BlogRush Stats and New “Flavors” Coming

September 21, 2007 | Marketing

I’ve had the BlogRush Widget on my site for about 5 days now and thought it would be a good time to talk about what kind of stats BlogRush offers and how well it’s doing for the site. The following screenshots have been taken from the BlogRush dashboard.

Syndication Credits Earned

The Syndication Credits graph shows the credits that have been earned by you, your referrals and the combined total, over a 7 day period. The traffic of my referrals greatly outweighs that of my own, so it’s difficult to see the “Referral Network” line, but it’s there.

Credit Balance & Referral Network

The “Current Credit Balance” shows how many credits you have built up that have yet to be displayed in other BlogRush widgets. Also, in this graph is a break down of credits earned today, over the last 7 days, over the last 30 days and how many bloggers you have referred.

Activity By Generation

The “Activity By Generation” chart gives information on how your network is made up. Included in this chart is a break down of how many referrals are in each of the 10 levels and how many credits were earned today, over the last 7 days and over the last 30 days.

Syndication Activity

The “Syndication Activity” chart shows how many times your article has been displayed in the BlogRush widget on other blogs and how many clicks your article has received. This chart is also broken down over the usual today, 7 days and 30 days time frame. My articles have been displayed 13,570 times and I have received 11 clicks according to BlogRush stats. Not a very good click rate at all.

Will Click Through Rates Improve?

Whether or not click rates will improve depends on a number of things including placement and the ability to customize the widget, well written headlines, and overall bug squashing and improvement of the service. The following message has been offered as a reason for low click rates and promises click rates will improve.

Introducing New BlogRush Flavors

John Reese announced this morning that in a few days BlogRush will get new “Flavors.” The new flavors will allow you to choose a color for the BlogRush widget that more closely matches your blog. You can read the announcement here.

I too have been watching my BlogRush results and finding them dissapointing to say the least. I am however, impressed with my .5% CTR which seems to be high by BR standards.

I see BR turning into a headline writing competition. I know my readers will tire of that kind of hype quickly.

I think this weekend I’m going to try some bogus headlines to see if they have an effect on BR referrals. Either way, I see myself doing away with the widget in a matter of days.

My real estate and load time is too valuable.

.5% does seem pretty good from the stats I’ve seen so far. I’ll probably give the BlogRush widget a few more weeks before ditching it. I don’t want to jump ship to quickly, but if it’s going to stay in my sidebar, it needs to pick up the pace.
