Welcome to Average Joe Blogger

July 16, 2007 | General

There is no doubt that blogs and blogging have become a large part of our worlds online. And it’s no longer just “geeks” that are blogging either. These days everyone from the average joe (you and me) to large corporations and even news organizations are blogging. It’s difficult to find anyone who hasn’t at least read a blog (even if they didn’t know they were), blogged themselves, or at least thought about it.

Over the past few years I’ve read thousands of blogs, thought about blogging and even dabbled in it a little. I’m fascinated by it and with the number of new blogs being launched everyday I can be pretty sure I’m not alone.

Of all of the blogs I read, and it’s a lot, the ones that really intrigue me and I enjoy reading the most are those of Pro Bloggers, including Darren Rowse, John Chow, and Shoemoney, among others. All of these people just started out blogging about something they loved and were interested in and at some point became Pro Bloggers.

So after years of sitting on the sidelines, reading the words of these amazing people, I decided to see what it takes to rise to the status of Pro Blogger. On this journey I will cover all aspects of blogging, everything from setting up a blog to making money from a blog, and hopefully somewhere along the way I will reach the status of Pro Blogger.

I guess that before we truly get started I should define what I mean by Pro Blogger. While there are many traits and key aspects that could define a Pro Blogger I’m going to define a Pro Blogger by the following:

Professional: engaged in a profession or engaging in as a profession or means of livelihood

Blogger: A person who keeps and/ or writes a blog

And when you put them together you get: A person who writes a blog as a means of livelihood.

So join me on this journey as I learn what it takes to become a Pro Blogger. My pledge is to be completely transparent is this process. Whatever I learn I will share with you, so that you can benefit from both my successes and failures.
