Beta Testing Intense Debate Comment System

August 14, 2007 | General

I was recently given the opportunity to beta test the new comment replacement system from Intense Debate and being the kind of guy who loves this sort of thing, I jumped at the chance. Plus, it’s just plain cool. Here is a screenshot:

Intense Debate

What Makes ID Different/Better?

There are many features of Intense Debate that make it better solution than the default comment system. Here are a few of the major ones.

Threaded Comments
All discussions are now organized in threads, making it much easier to follow conversations.

Reputation Tracking
Intense Debate incorporates a reputation system, holding users accountable for their comments across all Intense Debate enabled blogs.

Detailed Statistics
Who doesn’t love stats? Now you can get them for your comments.

Comment Tracking
Readers can now track all comments made by a particular user across any Intense Debate enabled blog, comments made by all those marked as a friend, or any sub-thread within the comments.

Intense Debate

Intense Debate aims to solve the major problems with the default blog comments. Test out the comment system for yourself by commenting on this thread. What are your thoughts?

Update: I have temporarily disabled the Intense Debate plugin as it causing display issues with IE7. A solution is currently being worked on.
